The idea for 'Currently Listing to' came to me when i was sitting on the train amongst my fellow commuters. A middle aged, middle class woman dressed in drab office clothing was listening to thrash rock, a pensioner had Take-That on, and the guy opposite me who looked like he could bend steel rods with his bare hands was listening to opera. I was totally amazed and realised that you should never judge a book by its cover. People's taste in music is highly personal and sometimes quite secretive. I realised that it would make a fantastic photographic documentary, and so enlisted the help of Mark Mcnulty (who came up with the name) to shoot portraits of people with their ipods/mp3/cd/tape (??) players, note their current track and if possible their top ten playlist. The goal is to get 'Currently Listening To' published, however it will be online on its own website soon - www.currentlylisteningto.com.
